Before the Short Form Video Strategy
Year 1
1. Overview
-
Brand: My Kpop YouTube Channel
-
My role: Content and Video Creator. I handled all aspects of my YouTube channel from brainstorming and researching to filming and editing, to scheduling and publishing.
2. Goal
-
In 2021 & 2022 I saw the rise of short form video from the growth of TikTok and knew I had to adapt to short-form content in order to continue growing my brand.
3. Strategy
-
I took to TikTok and YouTube Shorts to analyze trends and find any content gaps. From my findings I created a content schedule and reformatted my pre-existing long form videos into new short form videos.
Post Breakdown
I knew that there would be an abundance of Kpop videos on TIkTok and if I wanted to stand out, I would have to niche down even more.
I niched down into Kpop collecting and specialized in fanlights, since there wasn't as much competition.

My fanlight videos got the most attention so I decided to dive deeper.
I made videos on very specific topics no one else was making that I knew my audience would find entertaining and informative
4. Execution
-
I posted to TikTok and YouTube Shorts, making sure to pay attention to my analytics and audience feedback to continue modifying and updating my strategy.
5. Results
- I had substantial growth on both platforms and two viral videos. One YouTube Short hitting 2 million views and oneTikTok hitting 1 million views.
6. Learnings
-
When looking to take your social media to the next level it’s important to dive into your analytics to see what’s working and what’s not. It is also important to look at current trends and figure where your brand fits in and how it can fill content gaps.
